Why Benzoyl Peroxide Wash Is a Useless Acne Treatment

There are some websites and companies that promote the use of benzoyl peroxide as the best way to treat acne.

One if the seemingly popular methods involves this process:

1/ Wash you face

2/ Apply a vast amount of benzoyl peroxide to your face

3/ Wash

4/ Moisturize

Does this work?

The answer is yes – it does work to some degree. It works when you apply enough benzoyl peroxide to kill most of the population of bacteria on your face. And you need to do this EVERY day. You need to apply A LOT of peroxide to kill the majority of the bacteria and you will have to apply A LOT of moisturizer because the peroxide will burn and damage your skin.

But it DOES NOT STOP the ROOT CAUSE of acne.

So, what should you do?

Answer: You DO NOT apply benzoyl peroxide to your face – ever. You do not need to. You do not need to spend any money on acne treatments. Not one cent. And this goes for benzoyl peroxide. All benzoyl peroxide will do is burn your skin and burn a hole in your wallet.

Bacteria are not to blame for acne.

I will say it again:

Bacteria are not to blame for acne.

Leave the bacteria alone. You will treat your acne by eliminating the inflammation that causes the damage to your skin in the first place.
